Form of the Past, Light of the Future

Location

Izmir, Urla

Project type

Museum

This project addresses the redesign of a historical soap factory in Urla, Izmir as an experience museum through adaptive reuse. The spatial design aims to create temporal layers while preserving traces of the past. While ruined stone walls and lenticular glass panels allow visitors to see faint memories of the past from certain angles, infinity mirror (tesseract) installations integrate the space with digital art, questioning the perception of the future. The mezzanine is designed in the form of flying islands, strengthening both architectural memory and experiential flow. TouchDesigner projections and hypersonic speakers enable visitors to interact with sound and movement, offering a visual and auditory journey. This project, where both digital and physical experiences are intertwined, aims for the museum to be a living and transforming time capsule, not a static exhibition space.
